David Saunders provides expertise in strategic sales and marketing, focusing on new market introductions of pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and clinical lab services. Mr. Saunders has extensive training and experience in management, sales force development, contract negotiations, brand positioning, strategic planning and budgeting for profit improvement.
Prior to joining D2, Mr. Saunders had an extensive career with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) culminating as Area Vice President for the North Central region headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. Prior to this, Mr. Saunders held positions as GSK’s Area Vice President for Diversified Pharmaceutical Services, Regional Vice President for Field/Hospital Sales, and Director of their overall Sales Training and Managerial Development Division. During his tenure with GSK, Mr. Saunders developed corporate strategy, and directed plan implementation to maximize revenue and profitability with leading health insurers including HMOs, PBMs and specialty pharmacy providers. Mr. Saunders is credited with helping organize GSK’s Integrated Health Division which repositioned the company to be a provider of healthcare services.
Throughout his career with GSK, Mr. Saunders earned the prestigious GSK Diamond Award in 2002, 2006, 2007, and 2008, the company’s Platinum Award in 1995, 1996, and 1997 and the President’s Club Award in 1980, 1981 and 1982. Additionally, Mr. Saunders led the Minneapolis District sales teams that earned top rankings six years in a row.
Mr. Saunders received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management and a mini MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of St. Thomas. He has also completed executive training programs at the University of Michigan and the University of Tennessee.
